Bird's Eye View

If I get the opportunity, I always choose a window seat.

I know it's a real pain having to disturb two strangers each time I answer the call of nature, and it happens more than once during the seven hour flight from Britain to Canada, but it's worth it. Just look at the view! I don't watch the movie, I just look out of the window.

Enlarge the photos to see the details.
Fields of rapeseed shining in the sun somewhere just west of London.
A few more clouds, but still a lovely day down there on the ground.
The other side of the Atlantic, crossing the coast of northern Labrador.
Two mighty frozen rivers.... true wilderness. Minus 60F outside
Back to Canada.... vacation over. Until the next time.

  1. With all my trips I have a lot of catching up to do. I read all your posts. You must have felt so great walking on top of hills watching the lovely English landscape below. I would have loved to join you for fish’n’chips at the Rising Sun Inn – sounds yummy! Combe Martin must have been pretty when you were growing up there – you must have wonderful memories. I like English food. I would always gain weight when I visited England – pub food is great – how about a ploughman’s lunch with homemade bread? You visited Highclere Castle ! smashing! ….as I would have said years ago. I watched the series and read the book “Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey” – loved it. Your vacation series was gorgeous and quite informative – really enjoyable. I also liked your views from the aircraft. Last Sunday when we left New York it was clear so I took several shots from my window seat too. Thanks for coming to my blog and commenting.

  4. I'm with you. As long as there's something to see outside the window, other than clouds, I much prefer the natural sights to any in-flight movie. Thanks for all of the great trip journaling!

  10. Neat!! I love how the different countries look from the air. Good old Labrador....it always delights with its frozen tundra looks.

Glad you had such a lovely visit.

  12. You and Astrid both...at the window seat. Since we travel together and can usually get side seats for just 2, it works out well for us. I love it.

  13. What amazing photos. We visit relatives in Canada every 2nd year - I enjoy the flight out to Canada but the flight back is always a night flight and it seems such a long journey.
